Ben Sell, originally from East London, began his performing career at a young age, performing in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang at The London Palladium at only 11 years old, as well as touring with Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and Whistle Down the Wind.

Ben’s passion for music and leadership became apparent early on, and at just 16, he created and led a choir that went on to win Music for Youth’s Senior Choir of the Year. He also co-wrote and composed a workshop adaptation of PS I Love You and in 2015, he worked on an adaptation of Five Children and It for The Nomad Youth Theatre, showcasing his talent for creating original works for the stage.

Ben trained at The Guildford School of Acting, where he was awarded the Musical Theatre Prize and graduated with a first-class degree. His career has taken him all over the world, including Japan, South Korea, the Caribbean, Budapest, and Malta. Notable highlights include playing Dracula in Universal Monsters Live Rock & Roll Show in Japan (2013) and being an onstage swing whilst also covering Nick & Jimmy in the international tour of Flashdance (2019).

In the West End, Ben made his adult debut in Kinky Boots at The Adelphi Theatre (2016), playing The Cricket Angel and covering The Referee. More recently, he hit the road with the number-one drag girl group Queenz, bringing the house down as The Golden Diva, Bella Du Balle.

Beyond musical theatre, Ben’s commitment to the arts extends to his work with the Cornerstone Community Choir in East London, which he runs weekly. This inclusive choir brings together singers of all ages and abilities, from 9 to 90 years old, creating a space for everyone to come together through music. He has also produced various charity concerts, raising funds for local community groups and causes.

In addition to his artistic endeavours, Ben is dedicated to passing on his knowledge and skills to the next generation. He teaches dance at The Guildford School of Acting and also teaches at Smash Theatre Arts in Hemel Hempstead, working with young people aged 7-18. Ben offers private classes in singing, dancing, acting, repertoire, and audition technique, helping students hone their craft and develop confidence in their abilities.
